Commission Électorale Nationale Autonome (CENA)

The CENA is Benin’s central election management body responsible for organizing and supervising all national elections. It operates as a permanent, autonomous institution with legal personality, ensuring continuity and professionalism in the electoral process. CENA is composed of two main organs: the Conseil Électoral, which oversees the integrity, transparency, and legality of elections, and the Direction Générale des Élections (DGE), which manages the technical and logistical aspects such as electoral materials, voter lists, and polling arrangements. Together, they ensure that elections are conducted efficiently, impartially, and in accordance with the electoral code.
