An independent constitutional body established under Section 32 of the 1991 Constitution and guided by the Public Elections Act of 2022. The ECSL is responsible for organizing and supervising all public elections and referenda, including voter registration, boundary demarcation, and announcement of results. It also monitors political parties’ compliance with electoral laws, working alongside the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) to promote transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
